In the U.S., lumber has become much more expensive, causing demand to drop and putting many companies in the sector in serious trouble. The price of lumber increased because Canada raised its prices, and the U.S. added an import tariff on top of that. American producers are now allowed to produce more, but they lack the staff and capacity because many foreign workers have left. Meanwhile, Canada is looking for new customers for its lumber in the rest of the world.
