  • GoldED & the DOVE-net Qwk network

From Rick V@1:154/110 to Nick Boel on Tuesday, May 06, 2025 06:37:33
    Hello Nick.

I was wondering if you have a problem with reading the Dove-net qwk messages with GoldED? When I try and "List the messages in a area from Dove-net it's doesn't list all the messages, it shows it empty. I would have hundreds of missing messages dieplayed. When I login to my SBBS system there all there. Just thought I'd ask you.

    Thanks,
    Rick V

Golded doesn't seem to like Synchronet's voting messages. Once it hits one of those, you just see a blank message.

I had to completely wipe my Dovenet messages, disable voting messages, VOTING.DAT, and reset my message pointers so I would get sent all of the messages again (without voting messages), and all is well now.

If you want to keep message voting as a feature on your system, Golded will /not/ currently work with Dovenet. I have never used the voting system so it wasn't as big of a deal for me.

    Regards,
    Nick

That fixed that problem. I did the same as you suggested, fixed. Thanks again. How did you figure out that was the problem?

A lot of head scratching. ;)

Really, though.. it bugged me for a bit, I had asked Rob quite a few questions about QWK vs FTN and if storage of the messages were any different (it's not). It basically ended up being the last possible option, and it worked.

    Regards,

Thanks again for that help, but I was wondering, do you still get any errors on the Dove-net areas? I'm getting this error

evnt QNET !ERROR in qwk.cpp line 1030 (sbbs_t::qwk_vote) checking "conference number (voting not allowed)" access=2001.

But I can read the areaS fine with GoldED now.

evnt QNET !ERROR in qwk.cpp line 1030 (sbbs_t::qwk_vote) checking "conference number (voting not allowed)" access=2001.

That means you still have the QWKnet hub (e.g. VERT) configured to send you voting data in your QWK packets.

If you mean "Include Voting.DAT file" it is set to No.
